The Ogilvy Edge - Employee Spotlight of the Week!

This week on Ogilvy Edge, we’re shining the spotlight on Magdalene Quartey, aka Magdee, the friendly force at the front desk. She’s the first face you’ll see when you walk in, and probably the one who’s already five steps ahead of whatever you came in for.
From finding missing teammates to fixing mini crises (and yes, even supplying caffeine boosts), Magdee does a little bit of everything and somehow makes it all look effortless. Busy is her comfort zone, and she’s always up for learning how things tick behind the scenes, all with that signature smile that says, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” Let’s get to know a little bit more...

  1. If you had to be the face of any product, what would it be and why?

CeraVe “Because I’m all about consistency and helping others shine. Just like a good skincare, I work in the background making everything feel calm and put together.

  2. What’s the most bizarre item on your bucket list?
Become a vegan for a month. Lol

  3. If your mood this week were a weather forecast, what would it be?
    Sunny or Sunshine.

  4. Which song title best describes your current work vibe?
    Lose Yourself- Eminem

  5. What’s your alter ego’s name when you're in ‘beast mode’ at work?
    Serena Switchblade

On the Business Side of things

  6. What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on improving?
Trying to learn new thing without been told and adapting to my new role as social media manager

  7. What’s the most valuable feedback you’ve ever received — and how did it shape you?
“Keep pushing and never give up.” It reminded me that it's okay to struggle, as long as I don’t let keep me from stop moving forward. Since then, I’ve learned to take things one step at a time and not be afraid to try, even when things feel uncomfortable.

  8. If you could switch roles with anyone on the team for a week, who would it be and why?
I would love to switch roles with someone in management. Not because I think it’s an easy job, but I’m curious about what it really takes to lead a whole team, make big decisions, and still stay calm under pressure. I think it will help me see how everything comes together.

  9. What’s your go-to method for handling tight deadlines?
I stay calm, focused and ask for help when needed.

  10. How has your role evolved since you started at Ogilvy?
When I first started, it was mostly about handling front desk duties. But with time, it’s become so much more than that. Now, I find myself helping across different departments, learning how things work in other teams, and handling the company’s social media handles has made the job a lot more meaningful.

That's all for this week's Spark!

"Do your homework." - David Ogilvy.
